Hi fellow club members,
Welcome to the beginning of a new phase in our clubs long and exciting history!
As many of you are aware the rising costs of the Moari Park community Hall in recent years have meant we could not stay there without a significant increase in club income, and I would like to thank all those members whom gave their time and money to attempting to bridge the gap. But in our recent referendum the club voted to empower the executive to find a venue that was "within our means". After lengthy negiotations and excellent goodwill from the Forbury Trotting club we will be sharing their space at the Forbury Raceway and Event centre from Sunday 1st of April. So what does this mean for the general member?
Firstly on Sunday 1st at Moari Park Hall from 10.30 to 1.30 we will be meeting and moving our stuff to the new venue and all helping hands will speed this up hugely.
Secondly our Sunday meeting at the new venue will not start until 1pm when we expect the truck to deliver the tables and terrain, but note that we can stay later to finish games but the till etc will still be away at 5pm. However our new venue has a significant range of food and drink available .
So please share the news with those you know and remember that the 1st and 3rd Sunday are our meeting dates and watch this space for a full list soon.
Also Southcon planning is underway now and the set up for that event will be easier as our gear will be closer, but helping hands will still be required for the event so starting thinking about how you can help the club with set up and clean up on Queens Birthday saturday/Sunday in June. Also with the expanded event this year let the umpires know if you can help with table terrain.
The Flames of War event also has a prize for the best table based on an historical action so get your thinking caps on. Apart from the usual Flames, Painting, Magic , Warhammer and 40K tournaments we have the 2nd year of Warmachine and the first ever Dystopian wars event planned for us to enjoy, so please support your favourite hobby system.
